A big thank you to all our friends and fans who came along to see us at the magnificent Hop Farm Festival!! It was the band's first appearance at a proper outdoor festival and it was made all the more special by seeing so many of familiar faces down at the front.
There was plenty of beer and wine consumed afterwards as we celebrated down at the main stage, watching the likes of Mumford & Sons, Magic Numbers and moody Bob Dylan (who wouldn't allow close ups of his face on the big screen).
Can't wait for the next festival! Redfest on the 23 July!

Hello folks,
We're delighted to tell you that we've won a battle of the bands competition to win a slot at the prestigious Hop Farm Festival!!!! We'll be playing on the Friday of the festival on the Bread & Roses Stage, whilst on the main stage the likes of Van Morrison, Blondie and Bob Dylan will be performing!!
The competition itself was held over 3 stages - a knock out stage, then the semi-final and then the grand final on Sunday which pitted us against 4 really, really good bands. It was tough competition but we were absolutely delighted when the announcer confirmed at the end of the night that we had only gone and bloody won!
A massive thank you to all those people that came to the various stages of the competition and voted for us, cheered for us and danced like maniacs. We couldn't have done it without you!!!! You guys rock!!!!
If you'd like to come and see us at the festival, and we'd love it if you do come, you can buy tickets here www.hopfarmfestival.com/home.aspx#/tickets.aspx

Hey hey!
This Sunday – 13th June – we will be playing at the Semi-Final of the Hop Farm Festival Competition at Powers Bar in Kilburn – onstage at 7.30pm – and we’d love it if you could come along and support us! The winners of the competition get to play at the Hop Farm Festival supporting the likes of Bob Dylan, Mumf...ord & Sons, Blondie and Van Morrisson – so it’s a bit of a biggy!
It’s only £3 quid to get in at Powers Bar and last time we played there the Kronenberg was £2 a pint, so it’s a pretty cheap night, especially as you get to see 5 terrific bands (but remember that you must vote for us!!!). And as we’re on early, you’ll still be able to get home at a reasonable hour!
Just to explain how it works; when you arrive you should be given a voting slip which will have the name of each band. Put a big fat cross next to Lion O’Brien and hand it to the bar staff. If they don’t had you a voting slip when you arrive – demand one, or go and get one from the bar staff. In fact, get 3, and put crosses next to Lion O’Brien on all three slips and then hand them in.
See you all on Sunday!!!
Lion O’Brien
PS: Powers Bar is at 332 Kilburn High Road, NW6 2QN

PPS. There is no Jubliee Line on Sunday 13 June but the Bakerloo Line is still running and is serving Kilburn Park station. There is also a rail replacement bus service that goes between Finchley Road and Wembley Park which serves Kilburn.

We’re playing the lively little Powers Bar on Sunday May 9th and it’s not just a gig, it’s a massive competition that will give the winning band the chance to play at The Hop Farm Festival, along side a few acts like Bob Dylan and Mumford & Sons!!! So please come along - we’d like as many people to come down as possible to support us so we stand a chance of getting through to the next stage of the competition! We’re up against some top quality bands, so you’ll get to see 6 really high quality bands giving it some welly.

Hot Vox Promotions have invited us back to headline another of their nights, this time at the Babalou Bar in Brixton, in the Crypt of St Matthew’s Church. An interesting fact about this venue is that, before it was transformed into a bar, it used to be a playgroup for pre-schoolers, and I went to this very playgroup as a toddler. So, it’s very much a home-coming gig for me.
Anyway, get yourselves down there tonight - we're on at 10. Cant wait to see your handsome faces! x

Hello all,
We were overdue an update so here it is!
We've been busy beavers over the last couple of weeks recording and gigging. We had a great time at our gig down at the Boileroom in Guildford last weekend with the brilliant Kabiedees (the nicest band we've possibly ever met). We even managed to catch our last train home (just).
The day before that we did a spot of busking down at Brixton Market as part of an event organised by the Space Makers, with all sorts of art installations and performances happening down there every Saturday. We really enjoyed ourselves and met some lovely people and hope to get down there again in the near future.
Coming up, we're playing at the After Show Party for the cast and crew of Shank, a new British film that comes out tomorrow, Friday 16th March. We'll let you know how we got on and whether we spotted any celebs or Chelsea players with their pants down.
We've also started booking ourselves on to the bills of some Summer Festivals which we're excited about. So far we're confirmed for Redfest and Waveform, two small but very affordable and eco friendly festivals thsi summer. Keep checking back as we're hoping to update the site with more dates as they're added.
And lastly but not leastly, we're playing at Babalou on the 16th April at part of a massive nighht put on by Hot Vox Promotions. There's going to be bands and DJs in both Babalou and Mass and you'll be able to go to both venues for a very reasonable price (which I can't remember right now but will advertise very soon!). We want to try and get a really big crowd down for this event as there are going to be TV cameras down there and we want it to look rammed!
Cheers!

Lion O’Brien are playing at the After Show of the World Premier of new British film Shank at the very posh Tuatara Club tonight. Apparently we won’t be able to wear trainers. Invite only I’m afraid but we’ll tell you all about it afterwards! You can see a trailer for Shank here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1320296/

Hola
We had a fantastic gig at Dublin Castle this week, with a great crowd who created quite the atmosphere, which meant we really enjoyed ourselves on stage. Luckily we don't have to wait long to do it all again as we're playing at 93 Feet East on 8th March.
"Isn't that a Monday night?" I hear you gasp.
Well yes, yes it is in answer to your question. BUT it's a FREE gig with 2 stages and 8 acts in total, which means it's gonna be F***ING briiliant!!
So, don't stay in and watch the Alan Titchmarsh show or some such bollocks. Put on your dancing shoes and get yourself down to 93 Feet East and dance those Monday blues away!
We're onstage at 8pm so you've got plenty of time to go for a curry afterward...
