A big thank you to all those that came along to our first show of the year last week in Clapham. It was a fantastic capacity crowd and it was a real pleasure to see so many smily faces singing along to our songs.

We've got some more gigs on the horizon with the Dublin Castle (Camden), 93 Feet East (Brick Lane), Boileroom (Guildford) and Babalou (Brixton) all lined up, so there'll be plenty of opportunity to come along and hear some of the new material we've been working on and that we're really excited about.

We're working on new recordings too and are planning on self-releasing a new single in the near future after the success and warm reception to the Raincloud Vs Sunshine EP last year.

As mentioned on our facebook, if anybody fancies filming us at our next gig, that would be great. Drop us an e-mail if you think you can help and we'll sort you out with some Lion O'Brien goodies to say thanks!

We’re pleased to announce our first gig of the new year will be on Thursday 4th February at Arch 635 in Clapham. If you haven’t been there before, it’s a really cool, quirky little bar under the railway arches, a stones throw from Clapham North tube station (Northern Line). They’ve got 2 separate stages with 3 or 4 bands on each stage, so it’s almost like a really small indoor festival!

Entry is only £5 and they’ve sent us some tickets to sell in advance, so if you want some, get in touch!! We’ll be onstage at 10pm. More details on the venue can be found here http://www.arch635.co.uk/
Look forward to seeing you there.

We've got some nice gigs lined up for this month, starting with Tommy Flynn’s in Camden on Wednesday the 14th October. We then head to Kilburn on Sunday the 25th October to play the Oxjam Festival, an all day event that will see loads of top bands playing at various venues along Kilburn High Road. Then we finish off the month with a Halloween fancy dress party at the Zenith Bar, Islington on Friday the 30th October, which is FREE entry, with a prize for the best fancy dress. Lion O'Brien will be going dressed as animals. No prizes for guessing which animal James will be.
Hope to see you at one of them!
Mike

27/09/09 The Good Ship
Lion O'Brien return to the Good Ship in Kilburn, Oct 1st

11/09/09 The Windmill
Lion O'Brien return to one of their favourite venues on Wednesday 16th September, performing at the The Windmill in Brixton alongside the hotly tipped Buster Shuffle, as well as a "mystery" name band who will be performing under the pseudonym of The Places. Tickets are a mere £4 in advance or £5 on the door and you can purchase your tickets right here: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/58437
If you haven't been to The Windmill before you should definitely come along and check it out - we can't recommend it highly enough. It's a great little venue, regularly hosting fantastic bands and frequently featuring in lists of the best venues in publications like The Independent and Time Out.

Launch Partied on 17th July at the Betsey Trotwood, London

A massive thank you to all those that came along to the Lion O’Brien launch party on Friday at the Betsey Trotwood. It was a fantastic evening with an electric atmosphere from the sell out crowd.

For those that couldn't get a ticket, you missed a great night! The brilliant Brighton based band, Clayton Strange, kicked off proceedings with an enthralling and frenetic set. They were followed by the wonderful alt-folk of The Peryls, who transported the audience to their sinister yet magical fairytale nether-world.

Which meant that an already enthralled (and slightly juiced up) audience were in eager and enthusiastic mood when the new-look Lion O’Brien (Mike, Eve and myself were joined by new member Catherine) took to the small stage to perform a ten-song set of new and familiar songs, finished off with the four songs from the new EP. The night was wonderfully wrapped up by the brilliant Heartbreakers DJ set until the early wee hours of the morning.

We must say a big thank you to the following people for helping make the evening so special:

- Firstly, the Betsey Trotwood for their hospitality and service on the evening.

- The delightful Stephen Rowan for being our compere for the evening.

- Clayton Strange, The Peryls and The Heartbreakers for playing such fantastic sets at our party.

- A massive thank you to Jo Barnes whose help, not only with the launch party but with the producing of the EP itself, has been invaluable and is hugely appreciated. Jo not only helped to lug equipment back and forth on the night but manned the entrance and organised the distribution of t-shirts/ shots/ mini-eggs with the patience of a saint. We love you Jo!

- Also a big thank you to our own Eve the funky drummer, who has been a big drive behind the launch of the EP and the party, working tirelessly behind the scenes to make it all happen.

- And once again, a big thank you to all those that came along on the night. We hope you had a fantastic night and we will see you all again soon at future Lion O’Brien parties and gigs.

Big Lion sized hugs

James
